The NNA provides membership, bonding, insurance and background screening to notaries. They also provide the only legitimately recognized credential  to conduct real estate transactions as a notary. The NNA's Notary Signing Agent Certification. 

The National Notary Association require annual renewal checks and testing to remain valid.  Our experience with them on the back-end as seasoned notary signing agents it that they have very poor customer service, overpriced supplies, overpriced bonding, and the same goes for errors & omission insurance. 

They aren't all bad, they do have a nice slim-pocket stamp. They house a database that isn't highly visible and is poorly searchable called SigningAgent.Com that comes with your background renewal.
